Patients can expect some redness, irritation, swelling, and possibly pinpoint bruising at the injection sites. Your first treatment will often have the most significant redness & swelling. Some patients describe the feeling as “spicy” for the first few hours after treatment.

Swelling is a sign the medication is working and less swelling will occur at subsequent treatments. Numbness is common and will improve over the following weeks leading up to your next treatment.

You can take Tylenol for any minor discomfort post treatment & be sure to use lots of ice over the first 24 hours - We recommend applying ice X 5 minutes X 5 times a day X 5 days.

We are going to shoot you straight - Yes, Fat Dissolving can be uncomfortable and is typically described as “spicy”. The actual Injections feel similar to a Botox poke but the product injected has a “warm to spicy” sensation. The specific level of discomfort varies with each patient.

Downtime is expected as there is typically more swelling than with other procedures - Our team recommends taking the first 24-48 hours very easy and to be cautious around booking treatment if you have a social obligation or work schedule where you want the treatment to be completely unnoticed. Some patients prefer to book on a Friday so they can take the weekend to ensure swelling goes down.

We use ice post treatment to reduce any discomfort & minimal swelling & Tylenol is recommended for discomfort.

Although there is no specific preparation required before treatment, we always recommend getting a good nights sleep, being well hydrated, and having something to eat prior to treatment. This just ensures you feel your best!

Avoiding alcohol & too much caffeine prior to treatment can also minimize bruising. Yes, you can still have a coffee, but maybe stick to one cup ;)

You can come make up free if you’d like, but we will thoroughly cleanse the area prior to treatment. Numbing will be applied prior to treatment as well.

We provide post-care instructions after your treatment. But in general we recommend - No strenuous activity, avoid hot tubs/saunas/steam showers & UV radiation for 24 hours as this will increase swelling & discomfort. Avoid laser treatments, resurfacing & chemical peels for a minimum of 2 weeks as this can increase your risk of inflammation.

These recommendations are to ensure swelling & discomfort is minimized and further inflammation is not caused.

No, you do not require a follow up. We do recommend pre-booking your subsequent treatment approximately 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment.

Results typically take anywhere from 1 - 2 weeks after the initial treatment. However, because patients typically require 3-4 treatments total - the full results will not be seen until all treatments have been completed and 1-2 weeks have passed for swelling to fully subside.

You will see better and better results after each treatment.

Results are permanent - Deoxycholic Acid completely dissolves the fat cells. Significant weight gain or fluctuation will cause new fat cells to form and the submental fat to reappear.

It should be noted that some patients come back once a year for a single top up but the amount of product & number of treatments is very unique to each individual patient.
