  • What is Platelet rich fibrin and what does prf do?

    What is PRF?

    Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a new generation of Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) that achieves longer lasting & more effective end results.

    The procedure uses your own blood to collect a ‘liquid gold’ concentrate of platelets, fibrin, stem cells and white blood cells, which helps achieve wound healing, collagen production and improved elasticity.

    The Platelet-Rich Fibrin Gel technique uses the latest generation of Smart Blood Concentrates to generate a complex Fibrin Matrix rich in Platelets, Leukocytes and Mesenchymal stem cells.

  • What does a botox treatment look like and what does it do?

    Treatment Overview

    Your Nurse Injector will review areas of concern and explain the treatment plan built exclusively for your skin quality and desired end results.

    Prior to treatment, the face is cleansed thoroughly and your Nurse Injector will numb the area with a topical cream. A small needle is used to draw your blood (about 2 vials). The blood is then spun in a centrifuge and heated & cooled to obtain the highest quality PRF.

    The product is injected under the skin to ensure the optimal penetration & allows the PRF and growth factors to work from the inside out.

  • What results should I expect with botox and how long will it last?

    Results & Longevity

    A series of treatments are necessary to achieve optimal results and are best scheduled 4-6 weeks from the previous treatment. Most patient require 3-4 treatments total, however some patients may only need one and others will require more. Maintenance treatments is recommended after 6-12 months, or as needed.

    PRF is your blood component, therefore, results will vary greatly person to person. For 10-12 days there is a constant release of Growth factors and interleukins which accelerate tissue healing and regenerating processes.

    Treatment efficacy & longevity depends on many factors including your natural blood quality & state of health, lifestyle habits (sleep, diet/water, exercise, age genetics), stress, metabolism, time between treatments, etc. Results can last 12-18 months.

  • Yes, platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) injections are safe. PRF is a natural treatment as you are using your own blood and injecting the “liquid gold” back into your skin at a deeper level to stimulate your own natural collagen & elastin production. Self-generating, baby!

  • Side effects are minimal - if at all. Some patients may get some redness, irritation, swelling or pinpoint bruising at the injection sites which will disappear over time, often within a couple hours.

    Patients may feel some mild discomfort post procedure - this is normal and will subside over a few days. You can take Tylenol for any minor discomfort post treatment and use ice to relive any swelling.

  • Anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in the treatment & wants to improve their skin quality, fine lines, ad overall glow.

    PRF is great as a stand alone treatment or a support for your other injectables treatments. Think of it as an added insurance policy to your skincare, Botox, fillers, laser treatments, etc. It is never too late to start - Our Nurse Injectors will explain how treatment can help any patient at any stage of life!

  • PRF treatments have minimal discomfort - topical numbing is used and we have options for other numbing products if you are interested in discussing with your Nurse Injector.. There is minimal recovery time and some patients can return to work immediately.

    The blood draw is done with a ultra thin needle & only a couple vials of blood are taken. The administration is done with a needle & cannula and is similar to getting dermal fillers.

    You can use ice & Tylenol post treatment to reduce any discomfort & minimal swelling.

  • PRF treatments are $650 per session. We often recommend 3 treatments for optimal results - so we offer package pricing of 3 treatments for $1,700 (savings of $250).

  • Our Nurse Injectors are all Registered Nurses and have taken extensive training in injectables including specific courses for facial anatomy & PRF.

    Our Nurses all work under the direction & supervision of our Owner & Advanced Nurse Injector, Jillian Schenk as well as our Medical Director, Dr. Joseph MacDonald.

  • We recommend getting a good nights sleep, being well hydrated, and having something to eat prior to treatment. This just ensures you feel your best!

    Avoiding alcohol & too much caffeine prior to treatment can also minimize bruising. Yes, you can still have a coffee, but maybe stick to one cup ;)

    You can come make up free if you’d like, but we will thoroughly cleanse the area prior to treatment.

  • We provide post-care instructions after your treatment. But in general we recommend - No strenuous activity for 24 hours, avoid hot tubs/saunas/steam showers for 24 hours, do not lie flat for 4 hours, avoid wearing a hat or anything that will press on the treatment areas for 4 hours, do not have any facial treatments/massage for 24 hours.

    These recommendations are to ensure we reduce the risk of bruising & swelling to the treatment area.

  • No, we do not require or schedule follow-up appointments for PRF treatment. We do recommend you book your second and/or third treatment to ensure you are on schedule with your treatment plan & can get the most out of your results :)

  • Some people can see results almost immediately - But PRF will improve drastically over time. As the body heals and the collagen & elastin is stimulated, results will continue to improve over the next few months.

    Results vary for each person, but many patients see results for 12-18 months. We recommended maintaining your results with 1-2 treatments per year post your initial treatment plan, or as needed.

  • Being realistic about expectations is essential - and it’s something we pride ourselves on. Some people will have drastic results, and others less so. It is important that we take before & after photos so we can track your results.

    We will discuss in your consultation what to expect and we often will make a recommendation for a different treatment, sometimes even outside of our service offerings to ensure you are getting the best treatment with the best end results.

    If that means we think a laser treatment at another clinic is better option for you - we will give you a recommendation. At the end of the day we want you to get the most out of your money & treatment.

  • At the symm label, we offer PRF (short for Platelet Rich Fibrin). This product is injected into the skin for a deeper penetration and better & longer lasting results.

    PRP (short for Platelet Rich Plasma) is another treatment that using a similar extraction method but the blood is not heated & cooled and at a much slower speed - Resulting is a lesser quality of product. Essentially, the product is not as powerful and does not have as good or as long of effect.
